Back to Life

It’s barefoot in the grass season again, and my feet are so happy. Takes me back to being a kid again. We have an awful lot of clover in our backyard, which feels like velvet between my toes. I lived in Georgia for a bit after college and I was struck by how different yards are down there. Everywhere was clay soil that seemed to absorb the heat. Our yard was all prickly Bermuda grass and fire ant mounds, and all I could think was, how will my kids run around with no shoes in the summer? Ohio has its shortcomings, but at least it feels lovely underfoot.
